Common Name: Mock OrangeLatin Name: Philadelphus coronarius AureusSoil: Fertile, well-drained soilPosition: Full sun or partial shadeFlowering period/colour: April-July / pure whiteHardiness: Fully hardyEventual height/spread: 2.5m / 1.5mSpecial features: Vibrant golden green foliage and fragrant summer flowers. The ‘Aureus’ is a fantastic shrub which really brightens up a mixed bed or border. The ovate leaves are bright yellow when young, later maturing to golden green. In summer, clusters of pretty white flowers cover the shrub and these have a strong and sweet fragrance. This is great for accent planting, particularly next to one of the darker ‘Mock Orange’ forms like the ‘Lemoinei’. The ‘Aureus’ will also tolerate urban pollution or salt-laden air.
